The Founder

Michael Bowe, the “California Homebrewer of the Year” 1995 and 1996, brings his refined brewing skill and award winning recipes to make Angel City Brewing the local microbrewed beer of choice.
The brewery, located in Downtown Los Angeles, is the oldest microbrewery in all of Southern California. Christened in 1988 and fabricated in Munich by master fabricator Henrick Pentalsky at Anlagen Brauerie Technische, It was state of the art German brewery design featuring decoction brewing and 15,000 hectoliter capacity. Michael bought the brewery on EBay! in June of 2004 and has lovingly restored this classic brewery. It is truly a lager brewery designed to produce luscious, crisp lagers and Michael, who has always been a fan of German brewing, has taken lager brewing to a new level.
